Based near Chicago, IL, this full-time contract position allows you to make a meaningful impact within an energetic school community, working with grades 6-8 and an estimated caseload of 190 students.
Key Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in both Spanish and English for effective communication with students and families
- Current, active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor endorsement required
- Previous school-based counseling experience at the middle school level is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with academic, social/emotional, and career counseling in a diverse educational environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to enhance student outcomes
Responsibilities:
- Offer individual and group counseling using culturally responsive techniques in both Spanish and English
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development through targeted interventions and ongoing guidance
- Coordinate with faculty and outside resources to ensure comprehensive support for all students across grades 6-8
- Conduct assessments, maintain confidential records, and track student progress
- Deliver workshops on relevant topics such as conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and career awareness
- Engage families and caregivers, conducting meetings and conferences as needed
