Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Bilingual School Counselor, providing crucial support to middle school students for a maternity leave coverage from August 11, 2026, through November 16, 2026. Based near Chicago, IL, this full-time contract position allows you to make a meaningful impact within an energetic school community, working with grades 6-8 and an estimated caseload of 190 students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in both Spanish and English for effective communication with students and families
  • Current, active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor endorsement required
  • Previous school-based counseling experience at the middle school level is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with academic, social/emotional, and career counseling in a diverse educational environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to enhance student outcomes

Responsibilities:

  • Offer individual and group counseling using culturally responsive techniques in both Spanish and English
  • Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development through targeted interventions and ongoing guidance
  • Coordinate with faculty and outside resources to ensure comprehensive support for all students across grades 6-8
  • Conduct assessments, maintain confidential records, and track student progress
  • Deliver workshops on relevant topics such as conflict resolution, bullying prevention, and career awareness
  • Engage families and caregivers, conducting meetings and conferences as needed
