Step into a rewarding role supporting middle school students as a Bilingual School Counselor (Spanish Speaking) in a dynamic educational environment. This full-time, contract opportunity provides MAT LEAVE coverage from August 11, 2026, through November 16, 2026. You'll be working with grades 6-8, guiding a diverse caseload of approximately 190 students and making a meaningful impact during a pivotal time in their academic and personal development.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed for School Counselor
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish required
  • Previous experience as a school counselor in a middle school setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and provide culturally relevant counseling
  • Organizational skills for effective documentation and scheduling

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group counseling to students in grades 6-8, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Support students through transitions, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and goal planning
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and faculty, providing resources and referrals as necessary
  • Maintain thorough, confidential records in accordance with district guidelines
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster an inclusive, positive learning environment
  • Advocate for student needs and contribute to schoolwide initiatives that support student well-being
