Step into a vital school-based counselor role supporting students’ academic, career, and personal growth for the 2026/2027 academic year. Based near Easton, MD, this rewarding position runs from August 10, 2026, through June 16, 2027. You’ll serve an elementary caseload of approximately 350 students, working full-time, Monday through Friday, with a 7.5-hour school day.

Desired Background and Skills:

  • Valid school counseling credential or eligibility to obtain one in Maryland
  • Previous experience as a school counselor or similar support role
  • Familiarity with developing and leading group and individual counseling activities
  • Knowledge of career exploration, educational transitions, and post-secondary planning for elementary-aged students
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for engaging with students, parents, and staff
  • Organizational skills to efficiently maintain records and coordinate multiple activities
  • Comfort conducting evening counseling sessions for families, both in group and one-on-one formats

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate career development initiatives, including competency building, exploration, and decision-making activities
  • Guide students through general educational planning, orientation events, and the creation of multi-year study plans
  • Lead post-secondary readiness programs: assist with college/technical school choices, present on applications/testing, and support early financial aid literacy
  • Conduct regular evening counseling sessions for parents each month, offering both individual appointments and group presentations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of caseload interactions and student progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student well-being and academic achievement
