Embark on a fulfilling contract assignment as a Bilingual School Counselor, supporting middle school students in grades 6 through 8. This full-time position runs from August 11, 2026, through November 16, 2026, offering a unique opportunity to provide meaningful guidance during a maternity leave coverage period.
You’ll work closely with a dynamic team while managing an estimated caseload of 190 diverse students. This role focuses on supporting the academic and social-emotional development of students, with a particular emphasis on serving Spanish-speaking families and students.
Qualifications:
• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed for School Counselor
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (verbal and written) required
• Prior experience as a school counselor, preferably at the middle school level
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with students, staff, and families
• Effective organization and case management abilities
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive school counseling services to students in grades 6-8
• Deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional support, including intervention and crisis response
• Serve as a cultural and linguistic bridge for Spanish-speaking students and families
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote student success
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records
• Participate in school-wide initiatives and activities supporting student well-being
