Step into a meaningful position providing support and guidance as a Bilingual School Counselor for a middle school in the Elmhurst area. This full-time, contract opportunity covers a maternity leave from August 11, 2026, through November 16, 2026, with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You’ll work closely with students in grades 6 through 8, serving an estimated caseload of 190, ensuring that students’ academic, emotional, and social development thrive during a period of critical growth.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required; strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Hold an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement for School Counselor.
  • Experience working with middle school students and a diverse student population preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and prioritize student needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling to support students’ academic planning, personal development, and social/emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to create a nurturing school climate and address student concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with school and district policies.
  • Facilitate group counseling sessions and deliver classroom guidance lessons.
  • Support crisis intervention and contribute to school-wide initiatives promoting inclusivity and student success.
