Exciting opportunity available for a skilled school counselor seeking a contract position in an engaging, district-wide environment. This role covers counseling services for students across elementary to secondary grade levels within a local school district near Lake Jackson, TX. The assignment is set to begin either the week of August 17 or, depending on district budget finalization, the week of September 7, running through approximately May 17, 2027.
You’ll spend two days per week on the same campus, minimizing travel and providing consistent, effective support to students in need. Sessions will be thoughtfully scheduled to reduce campus movement, allowing you to focus on meaningful interactions and interventions.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Active LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) required
- Previous experience providing counseling to students, specifically those with disabilities (emotional disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, etc.)
- Understanding of best practices for supporting K–12 students in a school setting
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and faculty
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt strategies for individual needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver group and individual counseling sessions for students, supporting emotional and behavioral well-being
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with special education staff to shape intervention plans
- Maintain thorough and confidential documentation of counseling activities
- Provide crisis intervention and ongoing support as needed
