Help shape students’ academic success and personal growth as a contract Counselor in a dynamic school environment located near Locust Grove, VA. This full-time opportunity involves supporting elementary students for 37.5 hours a week at Salem Elementary and plays a vital role in fostering a positive, encouraging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise and guide students on academic, career, and social/emotional issues.
• Assess student, group, and program needs to plan responsive interventions.
• Employ diverse assessment methods to set and monitor both individual and programmatic goals for student achievement.
• Evaluate progress, provide timely feedback, and keep accurate records.
• Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution in collaboration with administration.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to prepare students for the transition to higher grade levels.
• Maintain confidentiality with student and personnel information.
• Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student needs and educational strategies.
• Coordinate referrals with school psychologists and administrators for specialized support.
• Foster engagement and self-motivation in a supportive, inclusive learning community.
• Participate in curriculum development, committees, and school activities.
• Report concerns related to student safety and well-being to administrators.
• Uphold professional and ethical standards.
• Maintain appropriate licensure and commit to ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Completion of a state-approved Counselor Preparation Program.
• Eligibility for required counseling licensure or endorsements in Virginia.
