Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current and active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor endorsement
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal fluency required)
  • Prior experience working in a middle school setting, preferably with grades 6–8
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with students, staff, and families
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 190 students
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing daily needs in a school environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct counseling services and interventions, both individually and in groups, to support the social, emotional, and academic needs of students
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to promote student success and well-being
  • Provide culturally responsive counseling and resources for Spanish-speaking students and families
  • Support students in developing positive coping strategies, academic planning, and problem solving skills
  • Maintain thorough and confidential documentation in accordance with school and district policies
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and serve as an advocate for all students
