Make a difference as a Special Education Counselor in a dynamic school environment serving grade levels K-12. This full-time opportunity runs from early August to mid-December, supporting students who need it most and covering for professionals on extended leave. You’ll be part of a collaborative team providing essential behavioral assessments and counseling in a diverse educational setting.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required.
- Must hold a valid Texas School Counselor Certificate issued by SBEC (accepted certificates include LPC, LCSW, LP, or LSSP).
- Experience working in K-12 special education settings is highly desirable.
- Skilled in conducting behavior threat assessments and developing intervention plans.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage students, staff, and families.
- Adaptable to working across a range of grade levels and student needs.
- Maintain high ethical and professional standards in all responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct counseling support for students in special education, addressing emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.
- Conduct thorough behavioral threat assessments and collaborate with school teams to develop support strategies.
- Manage a caseload of 75-85 students, adapting services across K-12 as needed.
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to foster a safe, positive learning environment.
- Document student progress and maintain confidential records in accordance with state and district policies.
