A rewarding opportunity is available for an Adjustment Counselor to support students’ social and emotional development in a school setting. This contract position, based in Westfield, MA, is available through the end of the school year (EOSY) and focuses on delivering essential counseling services that foster a positive and supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and social workers to develop intervention plans tailored to student needs
- Conduct assessments and assist in crisis interventions when necessary
- Support students in building coping strategies and improving adjustment within the school environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and progress notes
- Facilitate communication between school, families, and external resources to ensure comprehensive support
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as a School Counselor, Adjustment Counselor, or School Social Worker
- Knowledge of adolescent development and behavioral intervention techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Ability to remain patient, compassionate, and professional in high-stress situations
- Familiarity with school policies, confidentiality requirements, and educational regulations
