Step into a rewarding educational role supporting students from PreK through 12th grade as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher. This contract opportunity focuses on cultivating an inclusive learning environment for children with hearing impairments in a school setting. The assignment runs from August 10, 2026, to May 24, 2027, with flexible weekly hours ranging from 30 to 40.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly in a school setting
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a variety of communication strategies for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing population
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to a caseload of 8 students, adapting methods to meet individual needs
  • Create an accessible, engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth, participation, and independence
  • Assess students’ progress regularly and adjust interventions as needed
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families to facilitate effective communication and learning
  • Maintain all required documentation and participate in IEP meetings
