Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction and support as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher on a contract basis. Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher (state credentials as required)
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational environment
  • Strong understanding of auditory development, language acquisition, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used within the Deaf community
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet diverse student needs
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional services and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across a range of ages and abilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate IEPs and educational goals in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Support general education teachers in modifying curriculum, classroom environments, and instruction for accessibility
  • Advocate for students’ educational and social-emotional accommodations and integration
  • Engage regularly with students, families, and staff to ensure clear, effective communication about progress and needs
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in Deaf education and accessible technologies
