Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent credential
- Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and instructional approaches in deaf education
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and team members
- Ability to create differentiated lesson plans and adapt materials to support varying learning abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, both individually and in groups
- Assess each student’s needs to develop appropriate strategies, IEP goals, and accommodations
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related services, and families to ensure educational access
- Provide resources and training to staff regarding communication strategies and deaf awareness
- Encourage student independence, self-advocacy, and inclusion in all educational activities
- Monitor and document progress, making adjustments to instructional approaches as needed
