Experience a rewarding contract role as a Full Time Hearing Impaired Teacher specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education. In this dynamic, itinerant position, you’ll have the opportunity to impact students across 10 schools serving K-8 grades, including developmental preschool classrooms. You’ll make a difference for an initial caseload of about 25 students, helping them thrive academically and socially using your specialized expertise.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience adapting curriculum and instruction for students with hearing impairments, preferably at the K-8 level
- Strong knowledge of assistive listening technology (FM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants)
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
- Skilled in both spoken English and, if applicable, American Sign Language (ASL)
- Organized, flexible, and comfortable working at multiple school sites
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect educational services to students with hearing impairments across assigned schools
- Assess students’ needs and adapt instructional materials to ensure access to the curriculum
- Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers to support inclusive practices
- Offer guidance and training to staff, parents, and peers on communication strategies and hearing technologies
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, documenting student progress
- Travel between schools as an itinerant professional and efficiently manage your own schedule
