Make a meaningful impact as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher supporting students throughout the regular school year and during ESY services near Cicero, IL. This contract position is tailored for a dedicated specialist who excels at creating accessible learning experiences for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. You’ll provide both direct instruction and valuable consultative support, fostering inclusion and helping students reach their potential.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Credentialed as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related specialist certification
- Strong background in educational strategies for D/HH students (PK-12)
- Experience with both individualized instruction and consultation in school settings
- Collaborative communication skills for teaming with general educators, families, and support staff
- Knowledge of adaptive technology and resources relevant to auditory/communication access
- Experience planning and providing Extended School Year (ESY) services is highly valued
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver 100 minutes of weekly direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students during the academic year, tailoring approaches to meet individual needs
- Provide 180 minutes per month of consultative support, collaborating closely with staff to implement best practices and accommodations
- Implement ESY services from June 15, 2026, through July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday; includes 100 minutes weekly direct instruction and 75 minutes consult each month
- Assess student progress, update IEPs, and recommend appropriate interventions and supports
- Advocate for D/HH students’ educational rights, access, and full participation in the school community
- Stay current with state and federal policies impacting Deaf Education
