Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
  • Experience working with high school-aged students in educational environments
  • Strong understanding of current best practices and assistive technologies for DHH students
  • Ability to develop, adapt, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in virtual/remote contexts
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the needs of one high school student requiring DHH services
  • Collaborate with school teams, families, and service providers to coordinate and deliver effective interventions
  • Engage in regular communication and deliver instruction virtually, ensuring consistent access and feedback
  • Monitor the student’s progress, adjusting strategies and supports as necessary
  • Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings
  • Promote self-advocacy and independence for the student within the academic setting
