Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Crozet, VA

Qualifications and Experience:

• State certification as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) highly preferred
• Knowledge of current assistive technologies and inclusion strategies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborative spirit with a student-first approach

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet individual student needs
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, interpreters, and families
• Conduct evaluations, contribute to IEPs, and monitor student progress
• Offer resources and training to school staff on best practices for DHH inclusion
• Advocate for students’ access, accommodations, and participation in all aspects of school life
