Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Dekalb, Illinois

A new opportunity is available for a skilled Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist or DHH Teacher interested in making an immediate impact. This contract role is conveniently located near Dekalb, IL, and specifically seeks candidates who are excited about working on-site in a school-based environment. Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Experience supporting students with hearing loss in an educational setting
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement appropriate accommodations
• Ability to employ a variety of communication methods suitable for each student (including sign language, oral communication, and written supports)
• Passion for fostering academic, social, and emotional growth in DHH students
• Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with general educators, families, and related service providers

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instructional support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the school setting
• Develop and implement individualized student plans based on assessment data and team input
• Collaborate with school staff to adapt curriculum and modify instructional materials
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing progress monitoring
• Support classroom teachers in creating accessible learning environments
• Promote student advocacy, communication skills, and inclusion
