As a contract educator, you'll fill in for a teacher on leave and provide specialized instruction, advocacy, and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a vibrant school environment near Delmar, MD. Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education, or relevant teaching credential
  • Prior experience working as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or similar role
  • Strong grasp of communication modes such as American Sign Language (ASL), Cued Speech, or auditory-oral approaches
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent collaboration and consultation skills with school staff, families, and service providers
  • Genuine passion for advocacy, accessibility, and inclusion within school communities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and indirect instructional services to students with varying levels of hearing loss
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom activities to meet diverse needs and learning styles
  • Conduct assessments to monitor and document student progress
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Provide technical support, training, and resources on assistive technology and accommodations
  • Communicate regularly with families on student progress and strategies for success
