Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Denton, TX

Make a meaningful impact as a Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher, working collaboratively within educational settings to support students in achieving their full potential. This contract role offers an opportunity to utilize your specialized skills, guiding and advocating for the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications:

• Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs for DHH students
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued
• Knowledge of assistive listening devices, modifications, and strategies
• Familiarity with current best practices and educational technology
• Effective communication and teamwork with families and interdisciplinary staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct classroom and/or resource instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Offer consultation and training to general education teachers and staff on accommodations, modifications, and communication strategies
• Effectively collaborate with families, support personnel, and external professionals to maximize student growth
• Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to enhance learning access
• Support students in self-advocacy and social-emotional development specific to hearing loss
• Maintain up-to-date records and documentation in accordance with state and district regulations
