Qualifications:
- Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for DHH students
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices, modifications, and strategies
- Familiarity with current best practices and educational technology
- Effective communication and teamwork with families and interdisciplinary staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom and/or resource instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Offer consultation and training to general education teachers and staff on accommodations, modifications, and communication strategies
- Effectively collaborate with families, support personnel, and external professionals to maximize student growth
- Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to enhance learning access
- Support students in self-advocacy and social-emotional development specific to hearing loss
- Maintain up-to-date records and documentation in accordance with state and district regulations
