Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or endorsement in the field
- Demonstrated expertise in specialized instructional techniques for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used in deaf education
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, families, and support teams
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for DHH learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lessons to meet unique learning styles
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support accessibility and inclusion in classroom settings
- Assess student progress and provide regular updates to parents and stakeholders
- Develop effective communication strategies with students, using ASL and/or other preferred methods
- Participate in IEP meetings, serve as a liaison, and advocate for appropriate services
- Foster a positive, empowering learning environment that supports academic, social, and emotional growth
