As a specialist dedicated to helping students thrive, you’ll collaborate closely with educational teams to ensure learners receive the resources and instruction they need to excel both academically and socially.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school environment
- Strong understanding of assistive listening devices, communication modes (such as ASL, Signed English), and accessible curriculum strategies
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills to support student needs across multiple settings
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, counselors, and general education teachers
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the individualized education plans (IEPs) of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Consult with classroom teachers to create inclusive, accessible lessons and classroom environments
- Foster effective communication strategies, facilitate language development, and help implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs
- Engage families and provide guidance on resources and strategies to support student learning both at school and home
- Track and report progress, participate in IEP meetings, and collaborate on goal-setting
- Stay up to date with current best practices and legal requirements related to Deaf education
