Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing specialization.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Experience working with D/HH students in school settings preferred.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of assistive listening devices and technology.
- Strong collaborative skills for partnering with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Deliver direct instruction using evidence-based strategies for D/HH learners.
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to optimize access for students with hearing loss.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place.
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families, promoting inclusion and understanding.
- Provide training and resources to staff and families on D/HH student support and advocacy.
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and necessary documentation.
