Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Glendale, Arizona

Make a meaningful difference for students by supporting K-8 learners as a Hearing Impaired Teacher in an itinerant role. Based near Glendale, AZ, this full-time contract opportunity involves serving across 10 schools, including developmental preschool classrooms. You’ll be a vital resource for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, helping them thrive academically and socially.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Valid teaching certification with endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain
• Previous experience working with DHH students in a school or similar environment
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
• Experience with individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapting curriculum to meet diverse needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 25 students, ranging from preschool through 8th grade, across multiple campuses
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s unique learning needs
• Serve as an advocate for students, fostering inclusive classroom environments and facilitating access to the full curriculum
• Conduct assessments, maintain detailed records, and communicate student progress with families and staff
• Offer consultation and training to general education teachers and staff regarding strategies and accommodations for DHH students
