Make a meaningful difference supporting K-8 students as a Hearing Impaired Teacher. This full-time, contract opportunity is perfect for a passionate educator ready to provide itinerant support across ten schools, including developmental preschool settings. You’ll have a caseload of around 25 students to begin the year, offering guidance, advocacy, and tailored instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
What we’re seeking:
- Current certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
- Experience working with K-8 populations, including early childhood/preschool a plus.
- Familiarity with itinerant service models in school settings.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural and individual differences among students and families.
- Comfortable adapting services and instruction for a variety of learning environments.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver specialized, one-on-one and small group instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across multiple school sites.
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Assess student needs and progress regularly, developing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as needed.
- Advocate for necessary accommodations, technology, and resources in the classroom.
- Facilitate family engagement and answer questions regarding student support strategies and goals.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to school and district meetings as assigned.
