Make a real impact supporting students as a Hearing Itinerant Specialist. This part-time contract position (0.4 FTE) focuses on delivering vital services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school-based setting. You’ll work alongside educators and support staff to empower students’ communication and academic success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for state licensure
- Experience or training in delivery of services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within schools
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
- Ability to travel between assigned schools as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adjusting approaches based on individual needs
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
- Assess students’ needs and maintain accurate records on progress, accommodations, and service delivery
- Train and consult with colleagues on effective strategies and assistive technology for accessibility and success
- Advocate for students’ inclusion, access, and achievement in the classroom
