Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working with a close-knit group of K–5 students as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist, based near Hampton, VA. Enjoy direct impact and meaningful collaboration in a supportive environment, serving a manageable caseload of just 8 students—all conveniently located at the district center. This full-time assignment offers stability throughout the school year, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through mid-June 2026.

What we’re seeking:

  • Valid credentials or certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proven experience working with elementary school-aged children, ideally in an educational setting
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL), Total Communication, or other relevant communication modes
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborative attitude for working with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families
  • Commitment to fostering inclusion and accessibility for students with hearing differences

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to K–5 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Support language and academic growth tailored to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families
  • Monitor student progress, document service delivery, and contribute to IEP meetings
  • Offer training and resources to educational teams on hearing loss and accessibility
