Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Hampton, VA

Make a difference in the lives of students as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist working with a dedicated group of K-5 learners. This contract role is based near Hampton, VA and will allow you to focus on a manageable caseload of just eight students, all conveniently located at the district center. Your expertise will empower these young learners to thrive, as you provide crucial support throughout the school year.

What you’ll bring:

• Certification and experience supporting Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
• Knowledge of IEP development and progress monitoring
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Ability to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment

What you’ll do:

• Provide direct services to K-5 students with hearing exceptionalities
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to support individual student needs
• Contribute to and maintain IEP documentation and compliance
• Offer guidance on assistive technologies and classroom accommodations
• Engage in ongoing monitoring and assessment of student progress
• Support training and consultation for school staff as needed

This contract begins as soon as possible and continues through June 16, 2026, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week. Earn between $40 and $50 an hour while shaping the educational experiences of a small and focused group of students.
