Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain certification
- Experience working with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school-based setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities, as needed
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to diverse learning needs
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Adapt curriculum and create accessible resources to support diverse learners
- Provide direct instruction using evidence-based strategies, including sign language or other required forms of communication
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, administrators, and families
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the classroom and school community
