Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, technology, and assistive devices for students with hearing impairments
- Experience delivering individualized and group instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or other communication modes used by Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to work collaboratively with general education staff, families, and support professionals
- Compassionate approach, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to student advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom or small group settings
- Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess students’ needs and progress, documenting outcomes and maintaining thorough records
- Consult with teachers and staff regarding classroom modifications and best practices
- Offer guidance to families to support learning and communication at home
- Utilize specialized materials and adaptive technology to enhance learning experiences
