Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist in a dynamic educational setting near Midlothian, IL. This contract role spans the regular school year and includes summer ESY services. You'll work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them access education through skilled support, collaboration, and consultation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure to teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing impairments
- Understanding of current best practices and assistive technology for DHH populations
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families
- Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written
- Familiarity with itinerant teaching models and school-based service delivery
Responsibilities:
- Deliver 100 minutes per week of direct instructional services during the regular school year
- Provide 180 minutes per month of consultation to staff and families
- Offer Extended School Year (ESY) services from June 15 to July 24, 2026, Monday through Friday
- During ESY, provide 100 minutes per week of direct hearing itinerant services, plus 75 minutes per month of consultation
- Develop individualized goals and modify curriculum to address the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support
- Advocate for inclusion and accessibility within the educational environment
