Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - New Market, IN

Support students in their educational journey by providing essential services as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist. You will collaborate with students, educators, and families to ensure an accessible and inclusive learning environment. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification for Deaf / Hard of Hearing, or equivalent specialist license
• Previous experience working with K-12 students with hearing impairments
• Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with hearing assistive technology
• Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
• Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instructional support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in group settings
• Assess students’ educational needs and monitor progress toward academic and social goals
• Facilitate the use and maintenance of assistive listening devices and technology
• Consult with teachers regarding accommodations, modifications, and strategies to support student learning
• Act as a resource for students, faculty, and families to promote effective communication and understanding of Deaf culture
• Support the integration of students into mainstream classrooms as appropriate
