Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Norfolk, Virginia

This full-time contract position spans from now through June 16, 2026, offering a manageable caseload of just 8 students, all conveniently based at the district center near Norfolk, VA. Serve students in grades K–5 and enjoy the opportunity to provide consistent, focused support throughout the school year.

You’ll engage with a diverse group of young learners, collaborate with educators and families, and help shape individualized educational programs for each child. Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with school-aged children, especially grades K–5
• Strong knowledge of language development, assistive technologies, and IEP process
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

• Support a consistent caseload of 8 elementary students, all at one location
• Assess student needs and design individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide direct instruction and support in listening, speech, language, and communication skills
• Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families to ensure accommodations
• Monitor student progress and maintain comprehensive documentation
