Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Previous experience working in a school setting with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge of various communication modalities including ASL, oral/auditory approaches, and assistive technology
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and support staff
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- A flexible and positive attitude with a commitment to ongoing professional development
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grade levels
- Develop adaptations and accommodations to ensure access to the general curriculum
- Conduct student assessments and contribute to IEP development and meetings
- Consult with teachers and staff on best practices for inclusive education
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Offer training and resources for families and staff members as needed
