Make a difference every week as a dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) educator! We’re seeking a passionate professional to support elementary learners as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and ASL teacher for the 2026/27 academic year. This contract position is currently part-time (10 hours per week), with opportunity to increase to full-time as student participation in the ASL program grows. You’ll start by working one-on-one with an elementary student, providing individualized instruction and helping build a strong foundation in communication skills.

Your expertise will foster an inclusive educational environment and empower students to thrive.

What you’ll bring:

  • Background as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, ASL Teacher, or in a related role
  • Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language
  • Experience supporting elementary-aged learners
  • Patient, compassionate, and creative instructional approach
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment for the full 26/27 school year (August 2026 – May 2027)

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver tailored ASL instruction and support to an elementary student
  • Develop individualized lesson plans and adapt teaching methods as needed
  • Encourage growth in language, communication, and self-expression
  • Partner closely with educational staff and families
  • Track student progress and adjust strategies to maximize learning
  • Help establish an inclusive classroom culture for deaf/hard of hearing students
