Make an impact in the lives of students by providing education and support as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist in the Orland Park, IL area. This contract position covers the regular school year and extended school year (ESY) services. You'll work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering an inclusive environment and partnering with educational teams.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting deaf/hard of hearing students in school settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to tailor instruction and advocate for student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for hearing loss
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction: 100 minutes per week during the regular school year
- Deliver consultative services: 180 minutes per month, collaborating with staff
- Offer ESY services from June 15, 2026 – July 24, 2026 (Monday–Friday)
- During ESY: conduct hearing itinerant services (100 minutes/week direct, 75 minutes/month consult)
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop and implement educational plans
- Engage in progress monitoring and communicate outcomes to key stakeholders
- Support the integration of students into their classrooms and school community
