Step into a rewarding opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year as an American Sign Language (ASL) specialist dedicated to supporting elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education, or ability to obtain appropriate credentials
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), both expressive and receptive
  • Experience teaching or supporting deaf and hard of hearing students at the elementary level
  • Understanding of IEP processes, student documentation, and accommodation strategies
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills for working with multidisciplinary educational teams
  • Resourceful and compassionate approach to individualized instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality ASL instruction tailored to the language and academic needs of an elementary student
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate ASL and accessibility strategies
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate educational records
  • Provide recommendations to improve learning outcomes and promote inclusion
  • Adapt curricula and teaching methods based on student ability and response
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with families regarding goals and progress

This part-time role begins with 10 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to a full-time assignment as the ASL program develops over the school year. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the program and help foster a welcoming, accessible learning environment for students.
