Support and inspire students as a specialist serving individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting. By utilizing your expertise, you’ll help create a positive learning experience that accommodates diverse communication needs and fosters growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Current teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for relevant state credentials
- Strong knowledge of auditory, communication, and language development strategies
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed Exact English (SEE), or cued speech as needed
- Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Ability to collaborate with classroom educators, speech therapists, and educational teams
- Compassion, flexibility, and dedication to inclusive education
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, tailoring lessons to individual needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school staff
- Utilize assistive technology and visual aids to enhance student engagement and accessibility
- Serve as a resource and advocate for DHH students, advising teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress regularly, adjusting strategies as needed for optimal student growth
- Facilitate effective communication between students, families, and school personnel
