Key Qualifications:

  • Current teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for relevant state credentials
  • Strong knowledge of auditory, communication, and language development strategies
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed Exact English (SEE), or cued speech as needed
  • Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom educators, speech therapists, and educational teams
  • Compassion, flexibility, and dedication to inclusive education

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, tailoring lessons to individual needs
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school staff
  • Utilize assistive technology and visual aids to enhance student engagement and accessibility
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for DHH students, advising teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion
  • Conduct assessments and monitor progress regularly, adjusting strategies as needed for optimal student growth
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, families, and school personnel
