Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Round Lake, Illinois

Qualifications and Experience Desired:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• Experience working within school settings as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist.
• Strong understanding of assistive listening devices, auditory technology, and accommodations.
• Ability to create and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing differences.
• Skilled in providing direct and consultative services to both students and staff.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Passion for fostering accessible and inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel between assigned schools to deliver itinerant support for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Assess students’ needs and coordinate appropriate interventions or accommodations.
• Collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, administrators, and families.
• Monitor student progress and adjust services as necessary.
• Advocate for student access and participation in all aspects of school life.
• Provide training and resources to school staff in best practices and technologies for Deaf/Hard of Hearing support.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to IEP meetings.
