This contract position provides the opportunity to support students by delivering specialized instruction and collaborating with school teams. Serving an area near Ruckersville, VA, you’ll engage with students in the Charlottesville region, ensuring they receive tailored educational services that foster growth and inclusion.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with hearing impairments
  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices and accommodations
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff
  • Flexibility in adapting instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
  • Provide direct and consultative services to identified students
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet accessibility needs
  • Support classroom teachers with effective strategies for deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Conduct assessments and progress monitoring
  • Facilitate communication between home and school regarding student needs and progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multi-disciplinary team discussions
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in hearing education
