Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Tutwiler, MS

Qualifications:

• Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or as an ASL teacher
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience teaching or supporting elementary-aged children
• Strong understanding of the needs of deaf/hard of hearing students
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with staff and families
• Previous school-based experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct ASL instruction to elementary students, beginning with one student
• Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support language growth and access
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment for deaf/hard of hearing learners
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff on accommodations and integration
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Maintain regular communication with families regarding goals and growth
