Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Virginia Beach, VA

This rewarding opportunity is perfect for a skilled professional passionate about supporting deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational setting. Serving at a centrally located district facility near Virginia Beach, you will make a direct impact on a focused caseload of just eight students from kindergarten through 5th grade. This full-time contract runs from ASAP through June 16, 2026, offering a stable, long-term assignment with 35 hours per week.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
• Experience providing services to K-5 students in a school environment
• Proficiency in sign language and other communication methods for the deaf/hard of hearing community
• Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
• Excellent documentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct support services to K-5 students with hearing impairments, focusing on access to curriculum and communication needs
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student
• Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers regarding best practices and accommodations
• Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families to ensure inclusive learning environments
• Maintain accurate records and progress reports according to district guidelines
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and staff training, as needed
