Elementary Middle School Gen Ed Teacher - Alexandria, VA

This unique part-time contract role offers the opportunity to engage students across K-12 levels in dynamic after-school enrichment. Bring your expertise to a variety of educational settings and help students discover their passions beyond the classroom.

You’ll instruct and mentor students in chess strategy, robotics fundamentals, and introductory programming, making STEM concepts approachable and fun. Sessions take place after school—typically between 3-6pm—across several campuses in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, providing a stimulating and varied workweek. Qualifications and Experience:

• Background in elementary, middle, or high school general education (teaching license preferred, but not required)
• Experience teaching or leading extracurricular programming for children and teens
• Proficiency in at least one area: chess, robotics, or basic coding
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Reliable transportation; comfortable commuting between campuses in the region
• Passion for innovative, hands-on learning and inspiring students from diverse backgrounds

Role Responsibilities:

• Facilitate engaging after-school classes in chess, robotics, and/or coding for students in grades K-12
• Adapt instructional methods to suit a range of ages and learning styles
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for creativity and exploration
• Report attendance and student progress as needed
• Coordinate with campus staff to ensure smooth session logistics
