This contract role is focused on engaging Grade 7 students in introductory Spanish and guiding 8th graders through Spanish 1, a course that offers high school credit. The position is located near Attica, NY, and time slots are ideally the last two periods of the school day (1:11-2:33 p.m.), though some flexibility is available to accommodate scheduling needs.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in General Education (Spanish endorsement preferred)
  • Previous classroom experience as a General Education Teacher, especially within grades 7–8
  • Skill in creating dynamic, age-appropriate Spanish lesson plans
  • Ability to motivate and inspire middle school learners
  • Proficient in classroom management and student engagement strategies
  • Collaborative approach, open to working with school staff and parents
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Grade 7 Spanish and 8th Grade Spanish 1 during two daily periods
  • Develop and deliver effective, inclusive lessons based on district curriculum and standards
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment that cultivates language growth and cultural awareness
  • Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and adjusting instruction as needed
  • Participate in relevant school meetings, planning, and professional development activities when required
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families about student achievement
