Step into a dynamic classroom environment as a 7th Grade English Language Arts educator, working with a bright and engaging group of 20-26 students. This contract position focuses on teaching ELA using the established Core Reading Program, EL, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM, totaling 40 hours weekly.
Ideal candidates bring meaningful experience in middle school ELA instruction, allowing for confident classroom management and curriculum delivery, as supervisory resources will be limited. Full teaching certification (Instructional I or II in ELA) is highly preferred to meet state requirements and assure a supportive, structured learning environment. Exceptional candidates with an emergency certification and a solid track record will also be considered.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver engaging ELA instruction to 7th grade students, fostering a love for reading and writing
- Implement curriculum with the EL Core Reading Program, adapting lessons to meet classroom needs
- Assess student progress and maintain organized records
- Create a respectful, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Support students’ academic growth and social-emotional well-being
To be successful, you should have:
- Proven experience teaching ELA at the 7th grade level
- Active Instructional I or II ELA certification (or significant relevant experience for those with emergency certification)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to independently plan, instruct, and assess
- A student-centered approach and genuine enthusiasm for middle school education
