In this dynamic role, you’ll teach hands-on chess, robotics, and coding lessons at various elementary, middle, and high schools. The schedule offers flexibility, making it a perfect fit for instructors, teaching professionals, or those seeking rewarding part-time work. Teaching sessions typically occur after the school day—between 3-4pm, 4-5pm, or occasionally 5-6pm—across the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, with assignments at up to 10 different locations.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or mentoring students in K-12 (general education or subject-specific settings)
- Enthusiasm and knowledge in at least one: chess, robotics, or coding
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt materials for different age levels
- Reliable transportation for commuting to multiple campuses in the region
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Energetic, patient, and creative approach to engaging students
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver accessible, age-appropriate lessons in chess, robotics, and coding
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive after-school environment
- Encourage teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving
- Adjust teaching strategies based on students’ needs and skills
- Maintain attendance records and communicate regularly with program coordinators
