8th Grade Social Studies General Education Teacher | Chicago, Illinois

We are seeking a skilled educator to fill a contract position teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies, located near Chicago, IL. This opportunity offers a full-time schedule with your choice of either 7:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8 AM–4 PM shifts, Monday through Friday, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

As the classroom leader, you will create engaging lesson plans, deliver direct instruction in social studies disciplines, and cultivate a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere. Your responsibilities will include test administration and grading, guiding interactive discussions, and adapting instruction to meet diverse student needs. Collaboration with colleagues and effective communication with students and families will be key to fostering a strong learning community.

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Social Studies endorsement (minimum coverage: 7th/8th grade).
• Proven experience or strong interest in teaching social studies at the middle school level.
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide support to a range of learners.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
