Qualifications & Skills Sought:
- Montessori Infant/Toddler Credential from a MACTE-accredited program (AMS, AMI, or equivalent)
- Meets Illinois DCFS staff qualification requirements
- High school diploma or GED (minimum)
- Understanding of human growth and development, particularly ages 0–3
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy, teaching methods, and classroom materials
- Ability to observe, assess, and respond to individual developmental needs
- Adept at individualized instruction and classroom leadership
- Passion for cultivating a warm, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment
Responsibilities:
- Nurture a safe and stimulating classroom where infants and toddlers can thrive
- Implement Montessori curriculum, adapting to each child’s pace and interests
- Maintain careful observation notes and partner with families regarding each child’s development
