Desired Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education certification (Temporary Authority to Teach not accepted)
- Prior experience teaching general education science at the high school level
- Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students across diverse backgrounds
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Capability to quickly integrate into new settings and adapt to school-specific protocols
- Ability to meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements, including drug screening and fingerprinting as per district mandates
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based science curriculum to high school students
- Develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans to accommodate different learning styles
- Assess and track student progress, providing timely feedback and academic support
- Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student achievement
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required district activities
What to Expect:
- Full academic-year assignment: August 3, 2026, through May 27, 2027
- Monday through Friday schedule, 35 hours per week (7-hour days plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
