As a part-time instructor, you’ll guide curious minds across a variety of school settings, nurturing problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity through hands-on after-school lessons.
Responsibilities:
- Teach enriching chess, robotics, and coding classes for elementary, middle, and high school students
- Develop and adapt lesson plans tailored to the interests and skill levels of diverse learners
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and exploration
- Travel to multiple campuses each week in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia to facilitate sessions
- Provide feedback to students and support their progress in acquiring new STEM and strategic thinking skills
- Collaborate with school staff to coordinate schedules and ensure smooth class operations
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or tutoring in general education, preferably at the elementary, middle, or high school level
- Strong knowledge of chess strategies, robotics (such as LEGO, VEX, or similar kits), and basic coding principles
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to commute to different school campuses in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas
- Flexibility and reliability to teach 5-10 hours weekly after school, typically between 3-6pm
- Enthusiastic about working with students of varying ages and backgrounds
