Middle School Elementary Gen Ed Teacher - Hyattsville, Maryland

This part-time contract position brings you into multiple school environments, where you’ll inspire K-12 learners from diverse backgrounds to stretch their creative and critical thinking skills. Your ability to commute between sites in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia is essential, as your expertise will benefit students at approximately 10 different campuses. Assignments take place after school, with sessions running between 3-4pm, 4-5pm, or sometimes 5-6pm, for a total of 5-10 hours weekly.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience teaching general education in elementary, middle, or high school settings
• Knowledge and enthusiasm for chess, robotics, and/or coding
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Flexibility to travel within Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia
• Proven ability to motivate and engage K-12 learners
• Organized, reliable, and creative

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead after-school sessions centered on chess, robotics, and coding
• Adapt lessons for various age groups and learning styles
• Foster inclusive, positive environments that encourage exploration and collaboration
• Track student progress and communicate accomplishments
• Serve as a mentor and resource for curious, motivated students
