English as a Second Language (ESL) General Education Teacher | Kansas City, Missouri

Exciting opportunity to support multilingual learners and shape young minds as an ESL/ELL educator! This contract position, located in the vibrant area near Kansas City, MO, focuses on helping K-5 students develop their English proficiency and academic success. The school community serves just over 30 English Language Learners across all grade levels, each with diverse backgrounds and varying English proficiency as measured by the WIDA ACCESS test (scoring from 1 to a possible exit score of 4.7). Some students may also receive special education services, providing a dynamic teaching environment.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Missouri K-12 ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) or ELL (English Language Learners) certification required
• Background or passion for K-5 general education; knowledge of elementary curriculum preferred
• Experience supporting students across varying levels of English language proficiency
• Ability to collaborate closely with classroom teachers, other specialists, and families
• Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies for students who may also qualify for special education services
• Strong communication and program management skills

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver pull-out or push-in ESL instruction to groups across grade levels, four days per week
• Use Wednesdays for ELL program management, progress monitoring, and coaching classroom teachers
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Missouri standards and WIDA
• Support students’ academic and language growth, tracking data and offering individualized interventions
• Collaborate in team meetings to ensure effective support for all multilingual learners
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
