Social Studies 7th Grade General Education Teacher | Oak Lawn, Illinois

Put your expertise to use and inspire the next generation as a General Education Social Studies Teacher for 7th and 8th graders. This contract opportunity is located near Oak Lawn, IL, offering you a rewarding environment to engage middle school students during a pivotal stage of their educational journeys.

Utilizing your skills across curriculum development, classroom leadership, and social studies instruction, you’ll guide learners through significant periods in history and help them draw connections to today’s world. You’ll have the choice of working Monday through Friday, either from 7:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Essential Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Social Studies endorsement, valid for at least 7th and 8th grade
• Experience leading general education classrooms at the middle school level preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and families
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Organizational skills suited to grading, tracking progress, and lesson planning

Your Role Includes:

• Delivering engaging direct instruction to 7th and 8th grade students in Social Studies
• Developing and implementing curriculum that aligns with state standards
• Managing the classroom environment and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere
• Assessing student progress, administering and grading tests, and adjusting instruction as needed
• Collaborating with fellow teachers and administrators to support student success
