Step into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding 5th through 8th grade learners as a General Education English Language and ESL Teacher. Spend your weekdays fostering growth and achievement, with a uniquely varied split schedule—half your time supporting 5th and 6th graders in a middle school setting, and the remainder empowering 7th and 8th graders at the junior high level. In this role, you’ll take charge of your classroom environment, prepare and deliver engaging lessons, administer and grade assessments, and support English language acquisition for students at multiple developmental stages. Your expertise will inform your instructional approach, helping diverse learners thrive academically and personally.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A valid Illinois PEL with ESL endorsement covering grades 5-8
- Preferred: Bilingual PEL endorsement for additional language support
- Prior experience as a general education or ESL teacher, especially in upper elementary or middle school
- Strong classroom management, collaborative skills, and a passion for differentiated instruction
- The ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive learning environment for multilingual students
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing standards-based instruction for English Language Learners
- Developing assessments, grading assignments, and monitoring progress
- Collaborating with colleagues, staff, and families to support student achievement
- Maintaining accurate records and meeting all educational compliance requirements
This contract position offers competitive pay from $37.50-$46.75 per hour, depending on your credentials and experience.
